Architecture

Renzo Piano
Proving the Italians have still got it when it comes to building design. A huge list of notable buildings, such as the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Shard in London and the Tjibaou Cultural Center in New Caledonia

Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978), was an Italian architect, also did furniture. I like his use of light and materials. His style is hard to define and he didn’t conform to any box you try and put him. I loved his windows.

Gio Ponti (18.11.1891 – 16.09.1979)
You’ve gotta love an architect that can design a beautiful espresso machine! He also founded the iconic Domus magazine and also Stile. My favourite works are the 1948 La Pavoni Espresso Machine, and the 1957 Superleggera chair.

Aldo Rossi (1931-1997), like most of the others he got his architecture degree at the Polytechnic University in Milan in 1959, and like most of the others he did some great industrial design, including for Alessi.
