Alloy Engine Parts Vapour Blasted...

I’ve been sorting a few smaller bits out as I get ready to fill the engine bay back up. I had the Bonaldi booster rebuilt. A few little tweaks there that I will post about later. But as for some more photos, here are my engine components looking lovely and clean! I had them vapour blasted by Jason at Rust Busters. I felt confident to go with him as he and his father-in-law are very familar with Alfas, Fiats etc. Ardelve. Your first choice for parts cleaning equipment. Taken from their website: The process is applied using graded spherical glass beads in our Vaqua high performance aqua-blast machine, which simultaneously degreases and provides rust inhibition. With the Vapourblast process there is NO IMPREGNATION of the surface and no damage to sharp edges and precision surfaces I am very happy with the results. The block isn’t in the pics as there was a bit of corrosion on the #1 cylinder liner seat that is getting rectified. Also attached is a before photo! I have been collecting the bits for the engine rebuild for years so it is nice to know I have all the parts I need now including many NOS (new old stock) bits which always fit better than the reproduction parts....

AR Info Sheet – 1.05.008 – Reverse Clutch Shudder...

The early 105 cars are often plagued with a clutch that is very jerky in reverse. AR put out a tech bulletin to remedy this in 1965. By adding a rubber buffer ( a bonnet bump stop is perfect) through the existing hole with a nut on each side(many weld the inner nut to the bracket), you will find this problem should go away. The link to PDF of info sheet is below....

Finding out about your Alfa’s Early History...

A great service that some don’t know about is that you can send off the chassis number of you Alfa Romeo to the Alfa Romeo Archives (Automobilismo Storico Alfa Romeo) and they will send you back an email with the build date, sales date, where it was sold t, and the exterior/interior colour information. Example: Dear Mister *** with reference to your request we are informing you as follows. According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 721136 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Giulia Super RHD (105.28), manufactured on the 2nd August 1966 and sold on the 24th October 1966 to Alec Mildren from Pymble, Australia. The body colour is hawthorn white (AR 013), with black skai interiors.   Sometimes the interior scheme may be different to reality but most of the time it is on the money. Politely send your chassis number to the archives and you will be rewarded fairly promptly with a bit of history on your car! centrodocumentazione@alfaromeo.com They may also give you a printed copy of requested manuals for a fee. A few years back they did this for free! Nicely bound, double sided, with free postage! Pretty sure this isn’t the case now. The Giulia Ti Parts Manual shown below is over 370 pages!...
